LaGrange Driver Services Center Relocates February 3rd

1/30/2009

Citizens in Troup County will visit a brand new Department of Driver Services (DDS) customer service center (CSC) for driver’s licensing services beginning Tuesday, February 3rd. The new center is located at 900 Dallis Street in LaGrange.

Standard operating hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The center will be closed every Monday. A handy tip for all customers is that the middle of the week during the middle of the day is an ideal time to receive optimal service! Tuesday continues to be our busiest day statewide.

The relocation of the CSC is made possible by a partnership between Troup County and the State of Georgia. The County acquired the land and provided construction of the new facility which the State will rent. The State continues to provide equipment and staffing.

“This new center gives us the capability to serve a greater number of customers in a very efficient manner. We are very pleased with the help and support we are receiving from Troup County,” said DDS Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier.

The new facility is approximately 6,000 square feet. Enhancements include: multiple service counters, ample inside seating, free customer parking, 20 computerized testing stations and a lobby management system. Driver examiners will provide driver’s license testing, issuance and renewal, issuance of identification cards and driving history information. Vehicle road skills testing and will also be conducted at this site.

The current location (700 sq. ft.) at 2573 Hamilton Road has proved insufficient to serve the growing Troup County area. It has been a goal of the DDS to improve or relocate ineffective centers to enable customers to be served in a faster, friendly and easier manner. In August, the current center served over two thousand customers.

The DDS customer service telephone number is (678) 413-8400. Customers may also call toll-free 1-866-754-3687(inside Georgia but outside Metro Atlanta Area). Many transactions may now be done on-line (replace a lost license, change your address, obtain a copy of your driving history) by visiting www.dds.ga.gov.
