Department of Driver Services (DDS) Offers Free, Online License Status Check

11/22/2011
Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) has launched another online service to enable customers to skip a trip to a driver’s licensing office or avoid a phone call.

Customers may now conduct an immediate driver’s license status check by visiting www.dds.ga.gov.
This feature is easily accessible on the DDS home page: under “Online Services Log In” click on “Check License Status”. Customers will be prompted to enter a nine digit Georgia driver’s license number. An immediate answer of “license is valid” or “license is invalid” will be immediately displayed. Please note that this service is only available for licenses issued by the State of Georgia.

“If you are uncertain about the status of your driver’s license, please check it,” urged DDS Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier.  “Driving on a suspended license in the State of Georgia is an arrestable offense,” he added.

The DDS website, www.dds.ga.gov, explains how a license can be suspended and provides helpful reinstatement information.

DDS continues to identify cost saving and efficient methods to improve our customer service, such as offering several payment options including credit and debit cards. While you’re on the internet, don’t forget to “Like” DDS on Facebook!
