Department of Driver Services (DDS) Honors Local Teens for Safety Video

Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) recently honored two local teens for their contributions to teen driving safety. DDS Board President Trummie Patrick and Commissioner Greg Dozier presented plaques to Conner Haler and Dustin Gentis in honor of their success in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Leadership Competition in 2012.
Haler and Gentis won two awards in the category of Digital Video Production: (1) First Place in Georgia, and (2) Second Place in National. Their Public Service Announcement Video is titled "The Dangers of Texting and Driving" and shows the psychological and long term results of bad decision making in this area. Chairman Patrick and Commissioner Dozier commended the teens for their accomplishment at a recent DDS Board of Directors Meeting.
In addition to FBLA, both teens compete on Eastside High Varsity Cross Country Team where Haler is the Captain, and they are in the top 3 runners on the team. Haler hopes to attend High Point University in NC and study Strategic Communications. Gentis hopes to attend Georgia Tech and study Math and Physics.
