GA Department of Driver Services (DDS) Hosts National Motor Vehicle Administrator
Today Commissioner Rob Mikell and his team at the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) hosted Mr. Neil Schuster, President and Chief Executive Officer of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA).*
Schuster was in town from Arlington, Virginia for a Pre-Planning Meeting for next summers’ Region II AAMVA Conference which will be held in Atlanta and hosted by DDS. Mikell currently serves as President of AAMVA Region II and was officially sworn in during this planning meeting.
“It was an honor to have Neil visit DDS today. He is a recognized leader in the motor vehicle industry, and we have benefitted greatly from his advice and counsel,” Mikell added.
While at DDS, Schuster was eager to exchange ideas with team members and participated in a roundtable discussion of several key DDS customer service projects aimed at increasing efficiency. Of notable interest was the advancement that DDS has made with lobby management. The data that DDS analyzes from each day’s transactions enables each centers’ process flow to be adjusted regularly to align with current trends and demand. Schuster was also pleased to hear plans of another Internet option to offer reinstatements online by the end of 2013. This project has the potential to eliminate thousands of customer visits statewide each year. Other cost saving measures were discussed such as an innovative approach to the driver’s manuals which will create a public-private partnership to produce the guides. He also toured the DDS customer service contact center – one of the busiest call centers in Georgia state government.
