Driver Services Commissioner Accepts Industry Awards

Agency Honored for Public Education & Training

Department of Driver Services (DDS) Commissioner Rob Mikell announced today that the agency has received a record-number of public education and training awards in the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) annual Public Affairs Communication Education (PACE) Award Program.  AAMVA is a recognized national leading authority committed to enhancing safety and security through motor vehicle administration and law enforcement.

The PACE Awards recognize public relations, public affairs and consumer education excellence among the motor vehicle, law enforcement and traffic safety agencies across North America. They recognize creativity, cost effectiveness and the ability to reach customers with a well-crafted, measured and executed message.

DDS received the highest regional scores for the Georgia Department of Driver Services SecureID Press Kit and the Georgia DDS Online CDL Medical Certification Electronic Training Plan. The Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program (GMSP), administered by DDS, received top honors for the Share the Road Posters and Signs.

In addition, DDS received honorable mention for two projects – the Georgia Motorcycle Safety Program (GMSP) Indoor Exhibit Table and the DDS Web Enhancements Project.  Georgia’s region includes 14 states plus Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.  Over one hundred nominations were submitted.

“I am extremely proud of these five awards and the entire DDS team that works so diligently to develop creative ways to inform our customers and ultimately improve customer service,” said Mikell. “This recognition is a testament to the DDS’ commitment to our value of communication – an integral part of our customer service and training process,” he added.

Please visit the award winning DDS’ website at and select from the many services offered under ‘Online Services Log In’.  A new enhancement enables customers to submit pending residency and/or social security information without a return trip to a DDS customer service center.
