Department of Driver Services (DDS) Commissioner Rob Mikell has selected Cassandra A. Williams for the position of General Counsel. Williams previously worked as a Senior Associate at the law firm of Drew, Eckl, & Farnham in Atlanta.

“I am pleased to have Cassandra on the team,” said Commissioner Mikell. “She brings more than ten years of legal experience to DDS and our mission to protect the security and integrity of the driver’s licensing and issuance process,” said Commissioner Mikell. “I know she will be a great asset to both DDS and the citizens of Georgia.”   Williams replaces Jennifer G. Ammons who resigned from DDS to return to the private sector.

Williams will lead the DDS’ Legal Services Division of attorneys and administrators. This Division advises on all issues relating to contracts and administrative law, conducts judicial outreach and responds to complex questions on license issuance and eligibility among various other duties.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to join DDS at such an exciting time," said Ms. Williams. “I look forward to working with the management team and Board of Directors to improve customer service while providing vital homeland security.”

Williams received a Bachelor of Arts in in Political Science from the University of South Carolina in May 1999 and graduated from the Thomas M. Coley Law School, Lansing, Michigan in January 2003. In both undergrad and law school, Cassandra was on the Dean’s List and the Honor Roll.
