375-2-12-.08 Certification of Inspection of Vehicle Identification Number
(1) Form T-22B is a certification of the vehicle identification number (hereinafter referred to as the “VIN”) issued by the manufacturer following examination and verification of the VIN.
(2) The certification of a VIN shall be made by a duly constituted city, county or state law enforcement officer if the vehicle was previously registered in a non-title state or country or for the purpose of submitting a title bond. Any officer completing such a certification shall query the Georgia Crime Information Center to determine if the vehicle in question is stolen, and he or she shall indicate that the query was made on the face of Form T-22B.
(3) A county tag agent, or an employee of a county tag agent acting at the express designation of the county tag agent by whom he or she is employed only may certify a vehicle identification number on Form T-22B for the purpose of correcting a certificate of title or for registering a vehicle that is not eligible for the issuance of a certificate of title.
